MAC HELP / SECURITY PROMPT

Mac blocked the setup helper?

Apple may show a warning saying “Yellow-Dog-RustDesk-Mac-Setup.command” Not Opened because our setup helper isn't Apple-notarized. If you downloaded it from this support site at your technician's direction, follow the steps below. Do not disable Gatekeeper or change your Mac's overall security settings.

  1. Click “Done” on Apple's warning window. Don't click “Move to Trash.”
  2. Open Apple menu  → System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll to the Security section near the bottom. Look for the message indicating the Yellow Dog setup helper was blocked.
  4. Click “Open Anyway”. Confirm with Touch ID or your Mac password if prompted, then click “Open Anyway” again.
  5. A Terminal window should open and apply the RustDesk settings. Then open RustDesk and give your technician your ID and temporary password.

Don't see “Open Anyway”? Try opening the downloaded setup helper once, dismiss the warning with Done, and return to Privacy & Security. If your Mac is managed by an employer or school, its security policy may prevent an override; contact your IT administrator.

Example macOS warning: Yellow-Dog-RustDesk-Mac-Setup.command Not Opened, with Done and Move to Trash buttons
Example of the warning you might see. Choose Done first.

Mac permissions after setup: RustDesk may ask you to allow Screen & System Audio Recording (or Screen Recording) and Accessibility in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Approve those permissions for RustDesk so the technician can see and control your screen. You may need to restart RustDesk.
